Q: What color are Chesabar dogs?
A: Our Chessies are brown or reddish gold.
Q: How long have you been breeding champion Chesapeake Bay Retrievers?
A: We have been breeding champion dogs for since 1992.
Q: How does weather and temperature affect shipping a dog?
A: Shipping regulations for the airlines state that no dog may be shipped if the temperature is lower than 32 degrees. Similarly, no dog may be shipped if the temperature is above 85 degrees. Our breeder will make every effort to get a flight which fits the conditions of the dog. We try to get a non-stop, no layover, flight whenever possible.
Q: How much do females and males compare in size?
A: Generally, males are taller and weigh more than females. Most females stand between 21″-24″ tall and weigh 65 to 72 pounds. Males stand between 24″-25″ tall and weigh 75 to 95 pounds.
Q: Is a male or female the better family dog?
A: Both male and female Chesabar dogs are excellent with children. Generally, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever is protective of the environment in which they are raised. It is very important for all dogs to be socialized in order for them to become acquainted with their surroundings.
